i am non diabetic, and I keep getting these type of numbers but when I check a few minutes later there back to normal numbers? I’m really worried there’s something wrong with me as lowest I’ve dropped is to 3.5 :(

8:52pm tonight I was 3.8

Checked again at 8.58 and it was 4.3

A few things to consider
- meters are not 100% accurate
- it is not unusal to get numbers in the high 3s when you do not have diabetes. In fact it has been suggested a hypo (for someone with diabetes) could be a reading below 3.5.
- you my be worrying yourself unnecessarily with all the testing
- we cannot diagnose anything
- if you think you have a problem, see a doctor

Your profile states you have RH - so had you eaten a carb heavy meal? Have you checked again after the 'normal' reading in case that is wrong? Tagging @Brunneria for any ideas, but 3.8 sounds ok to me for a non-medicated person.

Without wishing to be dismissive you’ve asked the same questions for nearly a year now with pretty much the same replies. Have you seen your gp with regards to your concerns or your health anxieties?or received a diagnosis to support your suspicions?

I rolled a 3.9 this evening. Totally normal numbers and nothing to worry about unless you’re taking oral hypoglycaemics or insulin.

I have been numerous times for both my anxiety and worries over my blood sugars, it started worrying me when i started getting shaky, I never saw any lower numbers until the last couple of months so it’s kicked my anxiety off again :(

I am just anxious over thinking it may drop further. People have been worrying me saying 3.5 is low in a non diabetic and it shouldn’t go below 4, so i started worrying about my blood sugar

I don’t have reactive Hypoglycemia but that’s what I am worried I have. A few people started worrying me when I said my blood sugar is going to 3.5 every now and then and they said it shouldn’t go under 4

If those people were diabetic I understand. Diabetics on certain medication have to watch for hypo's as it can get dangerous, so they warn you about it. People with some form of hypoglyceamia can have trouble as well. On forums for diabetics people expect you to be diabetic as well and we don't always double check type before answering.

Yes, a blood sugar under 4mml is dangerous --- but ONLY if you are a diabetic taking medication of some sort to lower your blood sugar ! This is because the medication does not magically stop working when your blood sugar drops to this level. It will continue to work, so a diabetic needs fast-acting sugar to stop it dropping even lower. It is quite normal for a person who is not a diabetic to have some blood sugar results below 4 mml if they are tested.

Lauren, I go into the 3s almost every day. Actually, I'd say everyday, but there are probably some days I don't.

For me, my body seems to be working pretty well at the moment and my blood sugars vary, depending on what I've eaten, the exercise I've taken and many other factors.

Lots of people without diabetes would see 3s on their blood sugar testing kit, if they tested, but they simply don't.

To be honest, I would urge you to relax and be content you're not diabetic.

Hi @Lauren955 ,

Not to undermine your topic concern.

Looks like you had a 0.5 differentiation on the reading within 6 minutes of a sucessive BG test.
This is normal. Basically the meter takes a "snap shot" in time up to 20 minutes prior?

You two results in this V short space of time could be interpreted as somewhere in the middle 4 or 4.1Mmol...

Most insulin users such as myself would would wait at least 30 to 40 minutes before testing the effects of carbs ingested prompted by a first low reading..? (Pending on the action of certain carbs consumed.)

There have been many topics with concerns from folk saying, "I treated the low & tested a few minutes later & it's not rising." or even "dropped." Then over treated by over treating the recomended a out of carbs in a panic, not realising how these meters work in conjunction with the body's natural blood flow. Only to rise too high a couple of hours later?

However you are not an insulin treated or prescribed other possible blood lowering treatment regime for diabetes managment.
The risk for diabetics in this category is bloods could go in any direction.

We just remain calm & do our best. :) I've.had just over 42.5 years experience..

I hope this helps.
