Hey,

I've been a diabetic for 20yrs now and have had poor control until recently. Now I am starting to notice little issues with my body. First my eyes and now some other issues. I have recently noticed over the past week that I have had a slight pain on y ;lower back just by my kidneys a kin to going out on a bender when young and the next day having a tender back due to your kidneys hurting...My control was awful when younger and although it has improved it still is not the best.

I worry a lot and my stress levels are not the best ATM. Does this mean I need dialysis? It's been playing over and over in my mind and have a docs appointment this evening. Does anyone know what the symptoms are? I have also lost my appetite and struggle to eat main meals.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There could be a number of reasons for lower back pain, its best that you get a check-up at your Dr's if its worrying you.

How did it go at the doctors? I'd be very surprised if you need dialysis, you'd have been feeling a lot worse for a much longer period of time if you'd reached that stage. My sister is on dialysis and had been ill for a long time, and had lost an enormous amount of weight (several stone) without trying before she was diagnosed.
At a guess I'd say it's more likely to be something else, a kidney infection maybe, than end stage kidney failure ;)

get checked asap, I have been checked twice for the horrible addisons desease both times have came back clear and never had kidney pain (apart from after a binge on the beer)

The pain could be anything but a check with the diabetic team would be advisable
