Lowering blood glucose levels: natural methods

Well, I have 2 brisk walks every day. One morning, one afternoon, but have never tested to see what happens. So, this morning I went on my usual 20 minute brisk walk Result - absolutely no difference between before and after! Clearly 20 minutes isn't enough.
what was it before the walk bluetit

Sometimes 1 hour seems the minimum needed to shift bg. Other times 30 mins is sufficient. ?????!

I walked before diabetes and I walk now ....one hour a day .....except now I am rewarded by the benefits ....
That's with diet change ....although not much ....just that sugar posion was reduced ....
I also take medication ....and I had three op last year ....so not not quite jogging yet .....x

I have found exercise to be absolutely amazing at reducing BG levels. This graph shows an unassisted fall in levels and one with some exercise between test points. In fact nowadays I find about 3 minutes of dancing causes a rapid fall down to around 5.

It was 6.1 before and 6.2 afterwards, so no difference. I am always around 6 from waking until after lunch. Then a peak for lunch food. Before my evening meal I am down to 4's and low 5's.
that is really unexpected. So either you haven't used up your stored glucogen in your muscles or you went down and bounced back up. I wlant to go for the latter what do you get if you test half way through - just so different to what I see, mine just plummets and stays down.

When I've had my walk I wait about 20 minutes before testing (I only test if I feel curious about the effect because I know now that it does my bg levels good). When is the best time to test if exercising?

I would also say anything that reduces stress helps - stroking a cat, reading, listening or watching something pleasant (but not music with 'moods' in the title, the very thought just raises my BP :banghead:).

When I was in my 20s I did Transcendental Meditation for a while. Not the advanced courses and the flying nonsense, that was just a money-grabbing scam as far as I was concerned, but the basic relaxation technique worked (and still does if I care to).

We're going on holiday in a couple of weeks, that will be interesting to see what happens to my BGs.
Stroking a cat? Like they did on navy ships?

I can't explain it. I am the same every morning. My fasting reading (av.6) is always the same give or take a point as my pre-lunch reading and I always have a 20 minute walk at 3.5mph according to my ped. I take the same route every morning, rain or shine. In the afternoons I do a different walk but also 20 minutes at 3.5mph and my levels drop to my pre-evening meal level which averages at 5.1.

If I do drop down then bounce back up, what is causing me to bounce back up? It isn't food or drink.

Test mid walk? My husband would kill me! He thinks I test far too much as it is. He knows my obsessive nature too well.

It sounds like your body thinks it's BG is getting too low and your liver releases 'liver dump' which will raise your BG.

Okra seems to be doing it for me. 2 or 3 sliced and left in water overnight, then drink the water first thing in the morning. Give it 30 minutes before eating anything.
