I met someone having the treatment whilst waiting for my retinal check at the hospital here in France, he was very happy with it so far.
They use it for ARMD at the Good hope Hospital in Birmingham.
There is an article here (warning it's quite positive but full of explanations aimed at patients with the problem and I know some people are quite disturbed by this type of article) http://www.goodhope.org.uk/departments/eyedept/armdlucentistreatment.htm
Elsewhere on the site they say they want to use it for another eye problem (retinal vein occlusion)
They also want to use the cheaper avastin ( a almost but not quite identical drug made for by the same manufacturer) but cannot do so because the treatments aren't licensed.(Lucentis costs 2000$ for an injection, avastin 50$ for an equivalent dose.)
A discussion on how well the drug woeks and why the expensive form is licensed but not the cheaper version. http://www.medicine.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band159/b159-5.html
