Lucozade drink equivalent in France?

No recipes I'm afraid. I guess ginger with just about any fruit would be good, e.g. oranges, apples, mangoes, bananas or whatever you can tolerate. Time to experiment. Maybe try the ginger alone and see if you think it needs sweetening. I've got a stomach of iron so I'm not a good judge. :roll:

1977! My last year at senior school! Just did a quick search on 'ginger smoothie' and there are tons of recipes, including ginger and spinach ... that'll give you a body to die for.

Typo or wishful thinking! I was born the same year as 'Dennis The Menace' .... and my birthday is the same day as the 'Herald Of Free Enterprise' sank. So, beware! let me know how the smoothie works with the raw ginger .... remember slice to no more than 1/4 thick.

Back to the original question, my hospital does indeed use slightly diluted sirop, .They use sirop de menthe which I hate but there are lots of other flavours. However, you have to be very careful to read the ingredient list, some of them use glucose and some use glucose-fructose, some just fructose and many of course are now sugar free. It is the ones containing glucose that you want. I once met the diabetes nurse in the local supermarket and she was doing exactly that, reading all the labels before buying some for the diabetes ward.
Personally, I stick with dextrose tablets but normally buy them in the UK; if necessary I can get them from Decathlon but have never found them elsewhere.
 
Anything ending in "ose" contains sugar! I want everyone to know that.
 
Also, anything high in vit K is harmful to me as it negates warfarin. I'm quite surprised no one else uses warfarin and insulin. Shame, really. I'm finding things tough right now, but I suppose I'm being selfish.
 
Not at all selfish to want to improve your situation. I believe it's called self preservation :smile: I hope you find the solution soon

Thanks for the various replies. I just prefer a glucose drink to tablets, if I need it, because it's so quick-acting. I do generally travel with packets of Lucozade tablets (so much nicer then Dextrosol, in my opinion!, and they don't turn to stone the way Dextrosol tablets do if you have an opened packet). I have been diabetic for a long time and have become so unused to eating things with (cane) sugar in that I hate the taste -- whereas Lucozade tastes great. So yes, I would put some sugar in a glass of water if desperate, but only then. Sirops are very sugary, as you say. Someone suggested sports energy drinks, which makes sense. I was just looking for one or two brand names.
 

Can't believe that there are no equivalents to lucozade in France.

I think it is right and proper to quote someone in full and without modification as I have done and which is what anyone should expect. Otherwise, the meaning might be lost or taken out of context. It's just as well you and I are not like that.
