Hi everyone, I've had type 1 for 42 years. I will only drink Lucozade when hypo. Can I buy it in Sousse?

Not sure but if that's all you will drink, take some with you. It's only hand luggage and carry on that is limited to 100ml. If you are taking a hold suitcase, put a bottle in there.

Thanks Danny - going for 10 days - will need to take 10 bottles of 330mls which will be too heavy. Hence looking for Sousse stockist

No worries Clanders. So, you plan on a hypo every day ? How often do you hypo at home ?

why not try Lucozade tablets/glucotabs

If you need that amount of Lucozade then there is something very badly wrong with your diabetes control. 330mls is enough to treat 3 hypos.

That's most strange to expect to hypo most days and to need 330ml of lucozade each time? Lucozade is merely a glucose drink so any form of liquid glucose should do and is available globally. I always have glucose tablets available instead of drink as these dissolve very quickly anyway.

Hi @clanders . I'm a T1 of 38 years & have the childhood memories of being loaded up with food to go down the shops just incase of an "emergency". We get it drummed in..

There should be loads of the "sweet stuff" at your destination never underestimate the power of the humble orange juice . I normally carry solid in the hand luggage & a back up in the hold.. It's just peace of mind. Though I usually end up bringing it back home again. Lol

Have a great trip!

I am sane and like most other type 1's and plan on no hypos. Thanks for your suggestions. I'm looking for 'You can get Lucozade here .....(and the name of the shop/street) or 'You can't get it at all.'

Coke works just as well and can be bought in most places around the world.

When my blood sugars are low I can be difficult. I find coke too sweet. Chocolate won't work either as I can't tolerate the taste and always throw up afterwards Lucozade works and is the only sweet substance I can bear the taste of. Nightmare of a diabetic! I may just travel with cheese sandwiches (I don't like bread but it doesn't make me vomit! Thank you Jaylee!

Don't know if this suggestion will help, I carry jelly babies in my bag or jackets in fact I've got them stashed everywhere as u only need 4 of them which is 20g of carbohydrate they don't take up much space in pockets or ur bag I just wrap them in some cling film. ;-)

Jelly babies are my thing too.
Can only have a few within reach though as they are the only sweet thing I lose control over.

Lol, so jelly babies are a no no for u then coz there would be none left when u needed them.......hehe ;-)

Take some glucose powder with you and mix it as required. Just label it clearly in case customs think it's a dodgy white substance.

Haribo's too addictive as well mmmm

Thank you Jack - veggie so they're out and too sweet. I'm thinking there may be no Lucozade in Sousse after all

What about mint tea? It's sweet, but also has a certain dryness to it, and it'll be sold everywhere. Or there will be a powdered apple tea you can buy and mix with hot or cold water.
