Hi @ANNIEK2022Apologies if this has been asked before (I'm new to this site). I've just been diagnosed with type 2 and am trying to get my head around what I can and cannot eat. I'm often out on the road for work so would generally stop at a supermarket to pick something up for lunch.
Can anyone tell me what they would normally 'grab' in these circumstances?
Huge thanks
We had 2 slices of Pizza discarding the bottom part (carb) very littleWe always order lettuce wrapped burgers very little effect on BG
Is that because you dislike mayonnaise? Looking at the information on a bottle of Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise shows there is minimal carbohydrate. Quarter of a bottle is 1.4g!Thought I would chip (mmmm chips) in. I go to the veg section and pick up a pre made salad bowl. (you need to take a fork with you from home). Then off to the meat section you can but I avoid the processed ham and go for chicken or prawns. Then just put the two items together. If you want some zing add very little from a bottle of chilli sauce (it can last a while just take it with u)
Snacking - babybels are my favourite fridge raid. Any fruit that has berry after it eg strawberry, raspberry, blueberry etc.
Don’t be too hard on yourself it’s just a keep carbs to a minimum. I do have a pre made wrap which for me doesn’t spike to much although I do avoid the ones with mayonnaise. Get the meal deal with a celery dip instead of the packet of crisps and water instead of fizzy if cost is an issue.
