This is quite worrying, as even before I had diabetes I found it confusing and hard to get something tasty, healthy and inexpensive for my lunch. The result was a choice between of a pie from the bakers (cheap), a panini from the sandwich shop across the road (tasty) or going to the other sandwich shop and having a sandwich made with healthier breads and fillings (healthy). Unfortunately; healthy, tasty and cheap is an issue. I'd be happy with two out of the three!
I have decided to either come home for my lunch (10 minute walk each way) or take something in with me. I'm thinking along the lines of the following;
Wholemeal brown bread sandwich containing decent sandwich meat (unprocessed turkey, chicken, lean ham) with a slice of cheese.
A Mullerlight (fat free) yoghurt.
Piece of fruit.
Diet Coke.
I'm worried about how quickly this will get really boring and have me heading to the bakers again. Is the above example good though or should I be considering something else?
Problems that I have includes an intense hatred of tomatoes and dressings. I would have some lettuce/salad on my sandwiches if I didn't hate how limp and rubbish they get when pre-made.
