Hi,

Asking your ophthalmology consultant is worth a shout. If they have set in motion a plan for treatment?

tagging @Mrs T 123 who took, perhaps she can offer some personal experience.
Thanks for the tag @grantg - yes, you are right, I have taken super strength lutein 20mg for years now and also rutin to prevent me needing treatment on my eyes hopefully - I read up on this on the internet and it claimed taking it along with antioxidants in the diet could prevent/improve diabetic retinopathy (I have no links to suggest this btw just googling) and I don't know/have any proof it helps they have possibly stopped my retinopathy from getting worse in that so far I have not needed any treatment. It all started not along after I was diagnosed around 10 years ago now with a fairly high level and I thought I was doing the right thing by bring my sugar levels down asap, apparently not, which I found out later can actually make your eyes worse and that is where retinopathy comes in. Eyes and diabetes is weird, so I have had on/off retinopathy for years and now apparently I have stable maculopathy (I don't know if it is the same thing or not?). So @sheilaslims I would second what @Jaylee advises and speak to an eye specialist for advice. @sheilaslims if you do decide to try lutein, please do report back and advise on if it does improve your condition or not. Just out of interest has anyone else had success with lutein? Take good care of and look after yourself.

Hello & Welcome @sheilaslims x
