The info leaflet that comes with medicines is all but useless. A list of sometimes conflicting side effects, maybe a warning about a serious interaction risk if another drug is taken and above all, have you seen the size of the print on those things?
I often wonder if this information is put there more to protect Big Pharma than to advise a user.

There is also a piece of work relating to prescription meds (not just diabetes meds) non-compliance at the Leicester NIHR. I attended a meeting a couple of weeks ago where the conversation was utterly fascinating, but I think it fair to say that whilst this article "talks" of diabetes meds, others, such as for hypertension, statins or metal health conditions don't fare well either.

It is bad enough that there is now an inhaler that records when and how it is used, so that when trails are done, the new drug does not fail due to people not using it!

I agree, Ron takes bisoprolol and the leaflet says not to take Diltiazem or Amitrptyline he's on all three . Plus the Diltiazem contains sucrose . So when his last hba1c had increased the nurse upped his metformin. It's not doing any good . He's also got really bad wind also constipation. So I ask myself is there any point in him continuing to take metformin.

I get them on-line and zoom in and read at my leisure.
They are what our gps mainly rely on which is copied into their mims book. Or used to?
If in a legal dispute yes the info leaflet can be used as reference.
It is advised to read it.

This is when gps give an alternative. Hopefully.

However my constipation is worse on tramadol without metformin. Even more so on codeine.
Metformin can help my constipation but I was asked if I wanted to come off metformin by dn a few weeks back. A lot easier to figure out insulin need without on /off metformin. Not good for IR thou.
