Hello, my first post here :)

I am pregnant atm, I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy however it seemed I had managed to escape it this time with normal gtt tests at 16 and 26 weeks, I am now 36 weeks and had ++++glucose in my urine at my hospital appointment last wednesday so they are sending me for another gtt this wednesday coming, they did a random glucose blood test yesterday which was normal. On the advice of my consultant I have cut out high sugar foods and am trying to follow a low gi diet (was eating soooo much chocolate, cakes and pastries before), but i really miss bread, looking up low gi breads online I came across malted wheatgrain bread which is meant to be low gi, anyone had any success with this bread and blood sugars being normal? My mom has given me a spare machine so i am going to test a few times and see whats happening.

Thanks in advance
Sarah

If anything convinces me of Dr William Davis's theories about the addictive qualities of wheat, it's the obsession with bread on diabetes forums, LOL :D

Well, it is "the staff of life" !

Here in France here's an obsession with getting the "daily bread" and the importance of it in everyone's diet. And that usually means white beguettes, although there are lots more seeded, different types of bread being baked now as well.

Jane.
