Hi, I've been a type 2 diabetic since 2008, tablet controlled. My last Hba1c came back at 6.6, for the last 3 years it's been around 8.8 - 9.2 so that's come down a lot. The problem I have is recurrent thrush and sore/ cracked foreskin even though I bathe 3 times a week and wash my 'old chap' every night. I use Canestan or cloritmazole cream but just wondered if I need some sort of cream to put the elasticity back as even when it clears up, it still feels a bit tight when pulled back. Any advice would be good, thanks

Hi @bigshow1271 ,

I think my advice would be to discuss it with your doctor if you have not already done so.

There are many sources of advice outside of this forum....

Hi. Usually thrush occurs when there is sugar in the urine. As your blood sugar is now quite good there shouldn't be sugar in the urine, but a urine stick would prove the point. If the products you are using aren't working then do see the GP to do a urine test. He may also be able to advise on suitable softening cream.

I was watching Embarrassing Bodies once and someone presented with a thrush type problem. The lady doctor suggested they might have athletes foot and when putting on their jocks they spread it up the legs. It's certainly a new way of looking at it. She suggested "Socks Before Jocks". I suppose if you also have sugar in your urine then you are an absolute haven for fungi.

Yes I have a (bird) thrush problem and even talking to my GP and being given a strong anti-thrush cream still there even though my glucose has been on the good side
