Managing Blood Sugar Spikes: Need Tips and Advice!

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for a few months now, and while I'm getting the hang of monitoring my blood sugar levels and taking medications as prescribed, I still struggle with occasional spikes. It's frustrating because I'm trying to be diligent with my diet and exercise.

I'd love to hear from others who've faced similar challenges. What strategies have you found effective in preventing and managing blood sugar spikes? Are there specific foods or meal plans that work well for you? Any tips or lifestyle changes that have made a noticeable difference?

I appreciate any advice you can share. Managing diabetes can be overwhelming at times, and I'm eager to learn from your experiences and insights. Thank you in advance!

According to your profile, you are treated by diet, not medication.
What kind of medication are you on? This may be very relevant to the replies you get.

Would you like to share what type of diet you're following? And what kind of spikes do you see? There is lots of difference between spiking to 8mmol/l or spiking to 20.

Hi @healthyforlife101

One of my favourite introductions to T2 controlled by a low carbohydrate diet is a blog by one our members here

But there are other dietary approaches, particularly if you need to lose weight. Can I ask if this is an issue for you?

But as @Antje77 said, it is really important to know what medication you are on before sharing our stories.

(And I assume your doctors have checked and ruled out T1, as 23 is quite young to get T2 diabetes....?)

If you browse the forums you'll find lots of information about diet and exercise....
