Managing Freestyle Libre when travelling

Silverval

Newbie
Hi. I’m new to the Forum but not to diabetes. I’m “officially” Type 2 but now there are questions around LADA/even Type 1. However I am new to the Freestyle Libre 2 and on my fourth sensor. Lots of ups and downs, a great idea but nowhere near perfect. However it is helping on the whole and I intend to stick with it.
I am due to do long haul travel next month and wonder whether anyone can give advice about how to deal with a) the time differences and insulin doses but, more importantly, b) am I able to walk through the airport security scanners or do I have to ask for special attention? Anything else you think may be useful. TIA

I've been through Airport scanner slots of times. I usually point to it and ask first and they nearly always beckon me through. I Carry all my spares in hand luggage and never had a problem. I only don't put them in the hold in case they go missing.

Firstly I’ve been abroad once since starting my FSL2 I wasn’t asked for proof that I am diabetic. The airport sensor did not trigger, however I did say I was wearing one and was just nodded through. I obtained a standard letter from my diabetic nurse stating I was diabetic and to allow diabetic parafanalia through security. In fact the person at the check stated if I had any drinks for hypos they would be allowed. Perhaps other security checks would not be so enlightened?
With regard to dosing when travelling just be careful to reduce your dosing in case you can’t get access to food. In my mind I thought it would be better to have a high bg than have a hypo with no access to food.
