What do you think about mannitol, especially if used in saccarose-free chocolate?
I suffer of constipation, and for this I take psillum seeds, so the side effect on bowel of the mannitol is welcome.
From what I've read mannitol doesn't trigger insuline response, because is not readly absorbed by the intestine but has to be eaten away from drugs due the laxative effect (like psillum and other "mechanical" laxatives.

Any experience on this?

I normally eat some dark chocolate at 85% or even 99%, but sometimes some different texture is welcomed.

Hi. Sugar alcohols such as Mannitol still have around 50% of the carb value of a normal carb so be aware of that. Yes, they can cause constipation if you have too many. I've never suffered the laxative effect.
