Marathonmona's 8 week 800 calorie diet

Yes @TooManyCrisps I had a carvery meal but did have a yorkshire too (not very good) and that didn't seem to spike me too much. Had more broccoli/cauli than carrots and peas and a little gravy. It helps that you serve yourself and that they don't give you excessive meat - a plus on LCHF/BSD.
@Chook glad I'm not the only one with the fat bomb problem lol and glad you're feeling a bit better, I'm very sneezy at the moment but don't have the flu jab. Not great with drugs or have no trust in them, something like that anyway.
@marathonmona was just a thought but as someone who can't just do 1 fat bomb at a time then I can't really talk. Although there are some frozen fat bombs I've seen that may be easier to eat just one of as they are hidden in the freezer the rest of the time?

My blood sugars seem to have a dropping trend in the last week with my pre-meal reading being around 5-6 but afterwards can be quite dramatic spikes so I need to work out why. Am guessing too much protein maybe even though I'm trying to cut back on it

Hiding things in the freezer doesn't work for me - I just develop a taste for frozen things. I keep my 90% choc in the fridge (broken up in to squares) and the benefit of keeping it in the freezer is that it takes longer for it to melt on your tongue. Same with berries. Last Christmas I made loads of Delia inspired truffles (basically just 90% choc, double cream, alcohol and sweetener) and put them in the fridge... they didn't last long.

Yes, @thepolly protein can spike BG. I had spikes while on my zero carb experiment and my body adjusts to whatever I eat so, even on zero carb, it slowly drifted back up to the 5s and 6s. Its happened again with the ND - I'm not an expert but, from what I've read, I think its physiological insulin resistance.

Have you got a link to your thread Chook?

Thanks for all the responses to my post. I don't think waiting for an 8 week stretch of no socialising is going to work as I don't think any such slot exists for me! We go to a lot of dinner parties and also eat out at restaurants with friends. The restaurants are easier I guess as I can choose, whereas at dinner parties the hosts have cooked and it's really rude not to eat the food.

I've not been to a carvery since I was a child, and I don't think any of my friends would want to eat in one so that's not going to work either. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Felt MUCH less hungry yesterday. Think low low carb is the factor that will make low calorie much easier for me. I still haven't managed the 800 day (yesterday was 1000) but I'm hoping that maybe, as I feel more sated, I can eat less. We'll see!
I feel good.

I'm weighing from now on on Sundays because I always forget on Mondays.... so - I really struggled this week and only managed to lose a pound but it has been a pretty horrible week for a variety of reasons including that I was incubating then suffering with a cold which has really mucked around with my BGs. The cold has pretty much gone - just got a cough and the remnants of the earache so hopefully better luck next week!

Hey!
A pound is a pound. Glad you're feeling better. Keep at it. We're doing it and taking the scenic route but still getting there!

Xx

Btw, I've 'only' lost a pound too this week. Have been higher in calories and had that one little chilli Doritos blip lol.

BUT I've said no to our weekly feast at work-this week featured some rustic bread, butter, cheese, crisps and an enormous Victoria sponge.

I've taken some long walks with the dog and avoided eating a whole bag of Macadamia nuts, stopping at a very respectable 25 grams. Oh and yesterday I baked a cake for my neighbour, who always visits my dog when I'm at work. Yes, I tasted the batter and the buttercream icing, but I handed the cake over as soon as I iced it.

Let's hear it for life's little victories.

Xx

I think I might move to two meals this week - brunch/lunch and dinner - still keeping to 800 calories. Mainly because breakfast is the meal what I feel least hungry and it seems silly to 'spend' 200 calories when I'm not that bothered about eating

Well done for restricting the macadamias. I haven't dared have any nuts since starting ND as I never know when to stop.

Hi everyone,

Five weeks done

Weight loss this week a lb for a total of 16lbs
FBG of 6
Three inches off my waist.

Oh I'm finding it hard. But I'm still on appr 1000 cals a day. Lots of nice comments from family and friends and frankly those are keeping me going.

Xx
