I saw this on the BBC News App and thought you should see it: the Dr Malhotra speaking on behalf of the National Obesity Form, is one of the guys shaping the advice of my doctor. This was the third most important BBC NEWS this morning!!

I love the high profile, and the good advice, but I wish that all these things would emphasis that higher fat is only healthy if you cut the carbs proportionately.

The message IS in there. But it easily gets buried by the usual chuntering about calories.

Someone needs to come out and say, categorically that a High Fat, High Carb diet is a killer, so get those carbs down, if you are going to adopt a higher fat way of eating.

Trudy, one of the report writers, has just done this...she really was excellent.

Yep Trudi was brilliant. She made it clear that too many fats and carbs together were a bad thing and she stood her ground well re sat fats and dairy etc. :D

If I'm not mistake, the GP in the video piece, talking about the impact on T2 was our very own @Southport GP . (Just call me Sherlock ;) )

For anyone interested, Trudi Deakin published a very straightforward book, outlining the reduced carb, enough fat way of eating. It's called "Eat Fat - A Step-by-Step Guide to Low Carb Living" and available from her website and the usual places.

It's extremely clear and very easy to dip into and out of. I lent a copy to someone, overseas, about a year ago, and it's literally been on a world tour since. I really do wish I had asked each person who has had it to sign it, even if only with their location.

It's been on Today Program on Radio 4 regularly this morning. Dr Malhotra also spoke about Dr David Unwin, a Southport GP's work in lowering obesity and diabetes in his patients by championing a LCHF approach to eating.

I just hope this message gets through to certain of my friends who scorn my way of eating and that their low fat plenty of carbs way of eating is best because it's healthier.

I know what you mean, non diabetics don't understand, my husband for one, just had a bit of a fall out with him he just does not understand. :banghead:

Did anyone manage to record the BBC Breakfast article? I'd love to see Trudi Deakin, but couldn't drag myself away from Vanessa Feltz on the radio and it didn't occur to me to record the programme on the BBC!

If anyone recorded it, can you post a link? Ta muchly.

I did manage to watch the ITV article one on the internet - well done, Dr Malhotra!

@Brunneria - you're right - some people seem to see LCHF as a licence to gorge fat without reducing the carbs as well. I see it more as Low Carbs Full Fat rather than high fat.
