Hi. Can I ask whether you have any excess weight or have a good BMI? Are you on any meds? In my experience meters and strips are very reliable so I suspect the readings are OK. You haven't mentioned your diet. Can you let us know whether you are following a low-carb approach?
I would definitely ditch the bread and try some of the other foods suggested here, or go without breakfast, maybe have a coffee or tea with cream. Low Carb High Fat is the way to go.
Another thing ... read food labels for content. Learn what they mean (watch for the portion that the label says the content is based on). You quickly learn what foods you like and think are safe could be laced with sugars and carbs. "No sugar added" and "Sugar-free" are two different things. "No sugar added" is a great marketing ploy as you will find out that many such labeled products have high sugar - they just don't add any more than nature already has. Some Peanut Butter brands are very sweet while others are very low. Ketchup or tomato sauces have sugar. Sugar and salt have become the great "taste enhancers". Prepared Frozen dinners should become a thing of the past. Sugar bowl and salt shaker off the table. Family and friends will have to live with it while dining at your place. They will be better for it anyway. It will take many months of trial and error but you will find out what best works for you and stick by it as much as possible.
