right sorry but you may get bored in about 2minutes flat but bear with me need loads of advice and help or anyone that can relate whoose going through the same things etc also not best speller and grammer person in the world.. right here goes

i was diagonsed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13 (i'm 28 now) didnt have a clue what it was obvo been practically left to deal with it myself since i got it.. when i was diagonsed no one in our family had, had it before so no one really knew anything about it. surrounding the time i got it always played football since i was a nipper all ways played in my juniors and high skool team (abit after i was diagonsed when i was 15 and 16 but not much as i couldnt hack it no more), was a promising player had trials and that just before it all went pete tong before i finally collapsed downstairs and ended in a coma. anyway for weeks i was getting really tired by half time was always thristy going to toilet alot no energy being sick losing weight all the signs mum and dad who were together then had doctors out a number of times who never picked up on diabetes or even mentioned it. this went on for weeks about 2 weeks before we was due to go to spain my dad gave me 2 big bottles of lucozade to try give me some energy anyway next day i woke up feeling ok got to top of stairs then can vaguly remember something kinda weird happening then can remember being crumpled in a heap backside up legs up in air against front door then nothing. anyway i had fallen top to bottom of the stairs after collapsing then went into a diabetic coma. come round a few days later to be told i had this thing i had never heard of. long story short was in a fair few weeks holiday got cancelled came out mum n dad split about a week later before they split there reletionship had been really bad with arguements always fighting since i can always remember from me n my sis being toddlers blah blah blah.. anyway basically got left to deal with it myself had help from hospital but it never really got sorted..

for the last 15 years i havent been worlds best diabetic eating **** missing insulin never doing blood sugars missing hospital apoointments always in and out of hospital them tell me i would end up with complications used to laugh at time and say it wouldnt happen to me (now am not laughing). the last 5 years its got really bad though started about 7 year ago when my right eye got a deep laceration on it and then because my diabetes was up and down all time it got infected and then it left a huge scar smack in middle of my eye so all i can see now is like loads of haze like think fog is a mm from my vison. i need a corner garft to sort this but have to travel to london due to my diabetes being out of sorts but ive always put it off. my left eye when i did used to go to yearly eye screening was always needing that laser at back of eye thing. my usgars uded to be hi all the time but last few years are up and down all over bout 3 year ago i started going uncouncious in my sleep due to my blood sugar dropping very low in my sleep and my girlfriend was saving my life nearly everyday. id go to sleep wake up in hospital in a & e in the late afternoon or teatime after being found at like 4am in the morning sometimes abit later. i would always discharge myself. anyhow it happend once but i was fully aware what was happening i was awake but couldnt move or shout for help or anything my girlfriend had already got up so i just had to lay there honestly it scared me because i though i might have got some kind of brain damage. i just laid there till she found me eventually she did n brought me round. then a few days later it happend again she found me but my face had slanted on the right side and she thought i had a stroke so she rung ambulance tested me blood which was dangeroulsy low all i can remember is her and paramedics looking at me asking if i was ok they had been trying for some time to bring me round and had me proper against wall. i tried to treply but couldnt say anything that ad words like fs and s in it nor could i move my right arm or leg then carnt remember owt after that abit in ambulance something about a blonde bird on street who male paramedic said something about haha. anyway i properly came round said i was going discharge myself my gf and dad said i couldnt coz i couldnt use my right arm n leg said watch me moved to edge a bed my right side felt heavy and weird n boom hit floor 4 times i tried then gave up each time i hit the floor. stayed in a week because they said i should have got use back in my arm n leg soon as my sugars came back up but i didnt took two days of me hobbling up and down 5 hospital flights of stairs till it came back anyway they never found out why that happened. last year or so ive started blacking out while am awake though will be doing someything then one min someone is putting sugar down my neck or i will be awake for hours then all of a sudden come round and not known what ive done even though ive been walking round doing things normally sometimes abit confused while ive not known what have been doing according to others othertimes perfectly fine but i dont remember anything about getting up or nowt ive done etc. lost all signs of having a hypo i took my blood sugar down to 1.1 on purpose once to see when signs kicked in they didnt all thing that my gf saw was my speech went abit and i was slightly confused she said if she didnt know signs you wouldnt know lol..

anyway complications are my nerves in my feet blood circulation problems any one know anything good for nerve pain its everyday i feel ill they proper ache am on pregablin or something at min but there not working. also im suffering from ed (now am reeally embrassed lol) viagra doesnt seem to be really working from docs all though some i paid for on net did the job (ish) goin thru stage of trying diff ones at min but also am on depression tablets so its a case of trial and error on them both.. also been smoking 15 year aswell but since i decided i was going to make one last shot at trying sort everything i would stop. stopped this morning and havent had one since i woke at 6am. if anyone actually is still reading this you need a award lol..

ive probz missed loads of things but think thats it for now so i need some help and info on loads of things i know nothing about carb counting foods i should eat because i want to hit gym so need foods to build more muscle and tone up aswell as not effect my diabetes (protein powder carbs etc) best way to manage my diabetes how to make sure i remember to do my bloods and insulin and not forget them, how i can help with nerve and blood circclation problems the cough ed cough problem basically everything lol..

thanks for reading if ya havent fallen to sleep xx

Re: Massive long post needing help advice on all kinds of th

Hi

Wow you have been through the mill, i was also diagnosed when i was 13 and none of my family even new what diabetes was at that time (1983) thankfully my mum done everything in her power to find out about it. Before i was diagnosed i lost 2 stone in 2 weeks and constantly thirsty and going to the loo and also sleepy if i walked up a flight of stairs i would have to lay down and sleep it was awlful, then my mum said i would have to go to the G.P and get a tonic to perk me up at first she thought i was anorexic as my ribs were showing but she didn't understand i was still eating. Then obviously the G.P done a urine test and i was sent straight to the hospital. I have had diabetes for 28 years now and have also lost my hypo awareness, my hubby has had to become my full time carer as my sugars drop like a brick. Have you applied for Disability Living Allowance? as you have problems with your sugar levels dropping and also your sight, it sounds as if you need a family member or your girlfriend to become your carer. I always carry a bottle of lucuzade with me where ever i go and my hubby now only has to look at my eyes and can tell when my sugars are dropping he says i get a twinkle in my eye plus my voice changes. I was told by my consultant to run my sugar levels high for 6 weeks to try bring some of my awareness back but it did'nt seem to work for me maybe you could try that. You definatley need to keep all your diabetic appointments they are very important.

Hope things work out for you

Re: Massive long post needing help advice on all kinds of th

hi tracey

thanks for reading and your response.. yeah it seems before a few years ago diabetes wasnt really heard of or something that people new anything about really, or new of the signs that someone had it. gp came out a fair few times to me and didnt pick up on it.. 28 years is a long time. how was your management been with it and has your blood sugars just dropping been a recent thing i take it. most people can tell in my speech am dropping low if there close to me.. yeah i never carry nothing with me which is a daft thing to do. am currently on esa as doctors put me on that when i got made redundant through company closing who i worked for. i was only driviing but it seems like my diabetes as got worse like 5 - 6 years ago since i stopped doing manuel work (used to remove asbestos) and started driving for a living, so am thinking thats a factor to aswell as me not managing it and trying to act like i havent got it and that am normal like others and can do what and eat what they want as to why its got alot worse..

Re: Massive long post needing help advice on all kinds of th

hi dave

yes when i was in my late teens i tried to act like i never had it i just ate what i liked i didnt really care, i think when your young you seem to think if u ignore it it will go away. I do suggest you get either some lucuzade or even some dextrose tablets out the chemist, i've heard that jelly babies are also good to raise your sugars. I lost my awareness about 8-10 years ago and over time its got worse, i've tried the pump but to be honest it nearly killed me i gave it back after 3 weeks i never got no after care and felt as if i was left to get on with it. My husband had to become my carer as he was having to come home from work to see to me as the hypos were happening so frequently and still are. I went to see my diabetic nurse today she said its a possibility i am sensitive to the insulin but i doubt there is much you can do about that. I had my driving licence revoked about 3 years ago cos of the hypos DVLA told me i can re-apply when i have had 3 months without any low sugars but for a type 1 thats impossible. Before my hubby became my carer i was put on ESA and they new i was unable to work, they sent me for a medical and the nurse was useless she put that diabetes is NOT life threatening and scored me 0 for everything we had to appeal to the doctor at the centre and he agreed with us and sent the nurse back to do more training.

It maybe worth you finding out what you could be intitled to and what help you can get , i know now days you have to fight for things but it maybe worth it.
