Massively Delayed Rises?

I'm used to the "pizza effect" etc. but lately my blood glucose levels have been behaving really strangely.

For example, I had a pizza on Friday evening and injected 3 units just before eating it at 8pm.

Usually I'd then need another 3 units about an hour later, another 3 units 2-3 hours later and then a final 2 to 3 units at the 4 hour mark.

This time I was still flat at 5.5mmol at 4 hours later without any additional insulin and the fat-delay spike didn't occur until around 3am.

I had the same thing on another night and I'm now noticing my spikes are severely delayed even for non fatty foods.

Is my digestive system just really slow? Any ideas what could be causing this?

It could be to do with your stomach and digestion @pinewood
Perhaps keep notes of what you eat and what's happening to your blood sugar, and speak to your doctor or DSN if it continues.
How long have you had Type 1?

Thanks @azure. Had T1 for nearly 2 years now. I'm wondering if it's stress/anxiety related as I've had a tough few weeks and also felt a bit nauseous at time. For some reason my insulin sensitivity always increases when I am stressed (I know it decreases for most people) and I have noticed that too lately.

That's not long then. Could it be another digestive issue (rather than anything diabetes-related)? That is, have you had any other symptoms apart from the delayed highs?

If you haven't done one recently, I'd do a basal check just to make sure that your basal needs haven't changed.

Have you done any basal testing? It might just be your basal is wrong and not a delayed food spike.
