Last night DD had her first real hyper since leaving the hospital. I know it's not good that they wee their BG in a hyper but it's good that it alerted us and we dealt with it. She was back to 7 two hours later and woke up at 5.6. I knew the sleepless nights would come back but thought it would be when she started dating.

Ahh hope she is ok today @W00sterz00ey do you know what her bg level was at the time and what possibly set it off?

Scary for your daughter but you seemed to have handled it extremely well.

@Mrsass She went to 16+. I think it was set off by having too heavy a dinner with the full insulin at the beginning. So insulin ran out before food... Thank you @noblehead.

Ahh, it is easy done especially when you are still getting used to everything. As with everything with diabetes I try and focus on onwards & upwards, as long as you know where it went a bit wrong don't dwell on it as it doesn't solve anything just keep an eye for next time :)

Hi @W00sterz00ey i think highs and lows are fairly typical. My 2 yr old daughter varies quite a lot and I still have highs and lows after 35yrs being type1. Did you test for ketones? Highs can happen a lot during illness too so just beware x

Thanks @1Sarah1. We didn't check as we got down pretty fast... When should be test Ks?every hyper or just over a certain number? (Sorry for all the ??)

We usually test for ketones if BG is over 14. But that is very rare now for my daughter. Her numbers are nigh on perfect and I am very jealous! I wish my BG levels would follow suit.

It sounds to me like you are both doing an amazing job. Give yourselves a pat on the back :)
Thank you @mahola. Be great to know what your daughter's secret is for keeping her levels so balanced :)
