Hi fellow insulin dependent friends! I am still quite new to all of this relatively speaking. I was wondering, for other T1’s/insulin users, do you wear a medic alert bracelet?

No, I do not wear a medic alert bracelet.
However, I always wear a CGM and insulin pump so feel my diabetes is sufficiently on display.
 
I wear a silicone wristband that says 'type 1 diabetes' on one side and 'insulin pump' on the other
 
I confess that I used to permanently wear a medicalert bracelet, but the clasp broke after 20 years and I didn't get around to replacing it, which I probably should do.

I like the idea of a silicon band. Where did you get yours @sleepster?

I know some T1s on here have tattoos, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do that.
 
I wear an SOS Talisman necklace incorporating a waterproof locket which contains emergency details etc.

I also use a CGM and pump.
 
Yes when out and about. Especially swimming. Use silicone bands with it and have dozens of colours to go with every outfit. Have blood group and some quite serious medical allergies on the back also.
 
I only wear my bracelet if I plan to do something that could lead to unconsciousness. For example, getting drunk or going to another city for a long time. Basically, my friends are able to provide the necessary assistance and know what to tell the doctor if something happens to me
 
I have the silicone bands that says *INSULIN DEPENDENT*TYPE 1 DIABETIC, around the outside.

Got them from Amazon, I paid £9.95 (free p&p) in 2020, 4 in the pack.

They seem to last pretty well! I've been wearing the same one for 2 years and it seems fine.

Obviously, these are just visual aids to highlight any medical condition and no medical details are kept on record for medical personnel to access.
It gives me some peace of mind, should I need assistance, it may help.

Just re-read and it looks like I'm selling these! I'm not; there are probably funkier colours to choose from, and the Grey one could easily be mistaken for a Grey band with nothing written on it!

I don't wear any alert (except the Libre sensor on the back of my arm).

As far as I know, when an ambulance is called because someone finds you unconscious, they first check if you have a heartbeat, are breathing and not bleeding to death, next check is blood glucose so I expect they'll figure it out soon enough.
I usually (but not always) have my bag with me as well, when I have they'll find some obvious clues like a glucose meter and insulin too.
 
I have worn a stainless steel dog tag with the red sos snake logo and my details engraved on it for as long as I can remember , it's never had to be used but surely it's better to be safe than sorry !
 
I used to, but having known a few nurses (non-diabetic specialists) from around the world (including the uk) they didn't recognise the medic-alert so stopped wearing one.

Just my experience but I tend to think I'm strapped to Libre and a pump - I'm in with a good chance of being spotted (plus a card in my wallet that says I'm a T1
