Hi everyone

I responded to someone on a fb post today about medical Id and then it occurred to me I haven't seen anything mentioned on this site about it... so thought I'd share.

I have all my medical Id recorded on a phone app and if people pick up my phone which is usually locked they can tap on 'emergency' when they see the numerical pad and it comes up with 2 options which is "medical id" and 'call'. If they tap on "medical Id" it tells them all they need to know. Paramedics have used my phone before as it gives them everything they need to know as well. (eg. conditions, medications, allergies, blood type, next of kin, etc.). So that's an option if you don't like wearing medical Id like bracelets and necklaces. But even then when you do wear these the information isn't immediately at hand like it is on your smart phone. I even included my docs name and contact too and what dosages of meds I take and when, which includes my insulin.

If you have an iPhone the app name is 'health' (has a red heart) and it would already be on your phone as a standard app (if not you can get it from the app store)... you just tap it and complete the medical Id part with what you want others to know. If you have an android phone there are free apps that do the same from googleplay (eg. there's one called ICE which stands for In Case of Emergency). I have to say the paramedics were very happy with it because they said to me if everyone used their app it would save them having to ask people when you're real sick and may not be able to respond or not too well.

I let people I know that I use that app too so they know to look for it if I'm in trouble.

I have the cheap basic door mobile. It has a ice contact where it lists my name, weight, 3 numbers for emergencies, medication and illnesses. The phone only cost me 19.99
