Medically Restricted License 1 year? (UK)

Hi Folks!

I passed my driving test last year (Huzzah!), I just noticed that I have shifted from a 3-year restricted provisional license to a 1-year restricted full license. This has made my life pretty difficult in terms of insurance and cars. My insurance premiums have been pretty high due to this, and I am a bit confused.

Is any other Diabetic on a 1-year license? Other Diabetics I know are on at minimum 3-year restricted.

For context, I am a young-adult TYPE 1 Diabetic my A1C is slightly elevated and I am on pump/dexcom loop.

Appreciate any thoughts/experiences.

I am.. and it has Zero effect on my insurance…. Do you have provisional HGV or PCV if not I would question the 1 year with dvla as the 1 years are normally for the vocational licenses

If you have been issued with a license you are deemed fit to drive so shouldn't cost any more for insurance than anybody else .

Infact it’s classed as discrimination charging extra.. my diabetes and restricted license has never caused an issue with insurance.. I dare say the fact that you have only has a license a year + age is what’s the biggest issue
