So I am a type one diabetic and I am going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bali and I was wondering if there will be any problems taking my medication and equipment in with me to these countries and in the airports? Is there anything I need to do or any proof I need to provide and keep with me? And if anything should happen and I lost it or something, would I be able to get my hands on some more medication while there?

Hi @m.olly You shouldn't have any issues carrying your kit with you, however you can get a doctor's letter to carry with you which will explain to any customs officer why you are carrying your kit. Do some homework on the countries you are visiting to find out where the medical centres are, I can't advise on getting access to insulin, so this is where the research will help you in identifying where you can obtain this from. Just take care in carrying supplies as these are hot countries, take your insulin in a frio wallet to keep it cool, try to ensure you have access to a fridge if staying longer than 30 days too. Also keep your supplies in your hand luggage in case your baggage gets lost, it's best to be prepared for all events just in case, otherwise have a fabulous time :)

Make sure you have decent travel insurance with T1 DM declared as a pre existing condition, that way if something does get lost etc when you call travel insurance for help they should be able to point you to the best place to go to get a new prescription.
