I've been Type 2 since January 2014. Although I don't post much (not too confident about the ins & outs) I visit daily & am always impressed by the wisdom & care given out. I hope someone will offer some thoughts to assist me.
Currently taking 1g SR Metformin daily. Last Hb1 in March was 36 (previous 2 were 35 & 37).
I test daily & have noticed that my pre-lunch readings have dropped
lower in the past few weeks than ever before. Low 4's or down into 3's. I don't feel good at these levels so asked my DN yesterday about reducing my morning dose to 500mg. Waiting on my GP calling to see what he says.
There is clearly a lot of good experience on the forum so my questions are - good idea or mistake? And if you've done so how did it turn out for you?
Many thanks. Cath

Metformin does not lower blood glucose levels in the short term. It is a drug that looks after your liver and helps increase insulin production slowly over time.

If your fasting blood glucose levels are decreasing it is what you're eating and doing that is causing it.
Don't think you will get much change out of the doctor.

If it's working and you aren't suffering, no harm, no foul.
Keep up the good work.
