Well i am taking my Metformin as advised with food and my tastebuds are returning to normal but i am now getting diarhoea constantly, sorry to be so graphic but after reading leaflet in box it says if you are taking blood pressure tablets inform your Doctor but she would know that by my records.Im also taking other meds but they havent given me any problems before, does 1500 mg seem a high dosage id like anyones input as i cant stop taking them or my BG will start climbing again,at the moment my readings are 11-13 mmol in the morning and 15mmol two hours after meals. From tommorrow i am going to take 1000mg and inform my Doctor on Tuesday when i have my blood pressure taken again.

Hi Roger,

1500mg isn't a huge dose. I take 2000mg each day.

Your BG seems to be coming down but it still has a long way to go. If you go against your doctors recommended dose and take less than prescribed you will never get there.

Could my other meds be causing this,im taking pill for under active thyroid, one for cholesterol and one for blood pressure the prozac pill isnt known to have any side affects, while typing this im feeling quite ill.

Hello Roger

I take 1700mg/day in two doses which does have an effect on the guts, particuarly wind :x I know people who had worse problems and they were given the slow release version which can be taken all in one go with your main meal. Maybe you should ask the doctor about that.

I think most type 2 diabetics take medication for BP and cholesterol as well so im sure any interactions will be well known.

Your before and after food BG readings are interesting. With Mine it virtually doubles after a meal.

Hi Roger
I am around 6 weeks in front of you also on Metformin 1500mg @ day
First two weeks I also had the skids also felt sick all day :x
Now 6 weeks plus sickness has gone. :)I still have a dose of the skids, but only around once a week now, My Doc said that was normal for Metformin and a good clear out once a week was not a bad thing ???

The thing I am please about is my BG levels 7 day average is now 6

This effort is not down to the DOC,

It’s from MEDs and the information and help I found from this site

I have cut out ALL sugar
Take my Meds with my Food i.e. last mouthful and tablet (Helps with that sick feeling)
Use my meter before meals and 1.5 <>2 hrs after a meal to see the damage
You will soon see what sends you into orbit next time have a smaller amount of that,
or leave it out of your diet
I.e. In my case lentil soup. On the can label nothing but fairies **** in it?
Before this can 7 bg 2hr plus 16 bg

Adjust my food intake (CARBS) to rise or lower my BG

I was given a good tip, that worked for me
To remove any food that did not have less than 5.0 carbohydrate of which is sugars. per 100g (the only yogurt, I found under this was from M&S)

Then only add some things back when BG under control

Meds I am on Metformin 500mg X 3
Gliclazide 80mg x1

Was on Simvastatin (cholesterol) however that put me in hospital for a week with 1/1000 bad reaction

I am Still on a steep learning curve

Bob
