After my dietitian appointment on Monday I have been told that i am in line for a pump. Have been told I will have 3 choices.... 1 Accu check Combo (really dont fancy it). 2 Omnipod or 3 Medtronic 640G with Dexcom
Will have to change consultants 1st, which doesn't bother me at all. Could be looking at a time frame of around 6 months
I have done so much research on each pump that it is now frying my brain. I am hypo unaware, which is really worrying me at the moment, so I am leaning towards the Medtronic 640g along with the Dexcom due to the Safeguard feature. I am a little worried about the set changes (I am VERY needle sensitive!!!).
Am just after a little advice from people with these pumps

That's good new @porl69 :)

I can only speak from the 640g point of view, but highly rate my pump, i've been able to really drill down on my ratios and it works well for exercise, it's comfortable to wear and set changes every 2 days are straight forward, I use steel cannulas - Sure t's, and they are easy to insert, plastic cannulas were hit and miss for me.

I just seen that Medtronic have launched a new infusion set where you don't even see the needle.....Sounds right up my street lol
T1D for 46 years and hate needles!

@porl69 the Medtronic safeguard feature doesn't work with dexcom, it works with medtronics own cgm system, enlites. They did have significant sensor supply issues in 2017, because release of the 670 system in the US meant demand for sensors went up significantly. So for quite a while they weren't accepting new customers for the sensors, I don't know whether that is still ongoing.

But dexcom and enlites are different.

We use 640 and enlites. Having had awful job getting them a few months ago the supplies seem fine now

I think supplies are really good now of the enlite. I think the version of sensor that is used with the 670g is different to the ones with the 640g. I'm in Australia and I have no issues with supplies. I can vouch for the Smart Guard it has woken me on 3 different occasions and I have been very hypo. I can't comment on the other pumps, but I love the 640g.
