Been on pump now for a week and it seems to be never ending issues (not entirely with the pump)...

first infusion set change i somehow managed to mess up and go through 3 resevoirs and infusion sets... 2nd change i went through 2... changing again tomorrow and praying i can do it 1st go or im going to run out :(

now apparently I am not able to order more from medtronic!!! apparently they never got the details from the DSN when she sent them last week so now have to wait another week for me to be able to order the supplies i need :(

anyone else have issues with medtronic or am is it just me? :)

apart from that, i seem to be getting on OK... a few lows for the first few days now i seem to be running slightly higher but can cope with that as I know ill be tweaking amounts to sort that out :)

Although you can't re-use infusion sets, you can re-use cartridges. I usually re-fill mine for about 3 weeks before getting out new ones. I just keep the cartridges in use in the fridge so that the lubricant on the seals doesn' t dry out

Try and take your time when putting in the sets and then you will do it all ok and won't have any failures.

Sorry to hear that your DSN hasn't forwarded your details to them, that must be really frustrating! I was quite apprehensive when I went to order my first supplies but thankfully everything went okay there. Are you sure they won't be able to send you even a few supplies if you run out before then? Surely they can't deny you the supplies if that means you will be without! Maybe your DSN could ring them and sort it out?

I've had quite a few problems with cannulas myself when I first started... went through quite a few after one got bent, the other was inserted in a vein and started bleeding like crazy, the next one I missed trying to insert it and messed it up that way, then the next one finally worked lol.

Don't worry too much if your levels get a bit erratic the first few weeks, mine were all right the first two weeks then started going all over the place for the few weeks after. My basal pattern has changed completely at least 3 times in the first two months while my body got used to the pump and it's finally settling down now :) It's all part of getting used to it!

Good luck with everything, hope you get your supplies sorted...

My DSN did get in touch with them, she went ape when I spoke to her yesterday and had to chase it... Apparently there was some confusion in the details so they just put it to the side until someone contacted them (not too impressed with that but heyho) - i should be getting supplies next week :)

well changed cannula this morning before breakfast... was really chuffed i didnt get the "No Delivery" warning however knowing my luck will get it once ive been moving around and the cannula bends whilst inside of me... is that possible>?

wait to see what happens :)

Which type of cannulas are you using again? I started on the QuickSets and I must admit I did have a few of them bend under my skin which was really really annoying! I have since then moved onto the Silhouette ones and haven't had a problem with bending cannulas since :)

Im using quicksets. I have a little fat around the front so im not sure why im having such an issue, after i had James 6 months ago i didnt loose all my baby fat  although i dont know if it's a coincidence i have lost 1.5lb in just over a week since going on the pump, not intentional but good!!! :D

i was right... tried having insulin at lunch and "no delivery" =( however have put it in again and got my lunch insulin no probs (only know that cause i went hypo :) ) so now that ive been moving around, the next test will be in about 1 hour when i eat again!!!

seeing my dsn tomorrow, i think im going to ask about some of the other cannulas as if there is a better 1 for me then it will save the hospital a lot of money :D

I really like DSN, which is strange... when i was discharged from the peadiatric diabetes care unit at 1 hospital, was transferred to the main hospital where I am now when i was 16, the same DSN put me on MDI and i HATED her with a passion, moved to a different county and fought and fought to go back onto 2 injections a day, moved back to where I started and saw my GP instead of hospital and FINALLY got put onto 2x a day... about 7months later I got pregnant which was a bit of a shock but as we wanted kids and was already looking into it with diabetes... got reffered back to the hospital and my first appointment with the same DSN she put me back onto the exact same MDI she put me on originally  ever since she's been pretty good

Sorry to hear you had difficulties getting set up with Medtronic. I contacted them about info to prepare to start pumping and they were extremely helpful (emailed me the entire user manual and posted me the step-by-step guide).

Having said that I'm still waiting for the pump to arrive 2.5 weeks after funding was approved. Stocked up with lucozade, ketostix, spare batteries, extra strips, vials of insulin... just need the pump. The delay has given the pump a name though. Thought about Isla or Hans (as in Islets of Langerhans), depending if I think its a boy or girl. But meanwhile I've kept saying "when I get my Veo" so it may end up being called Myveo!
