That could well be an issue. The G4's do require a transmitter and I'm pretty sure those are pricey - especially if only going to be used briefly rather than for their full years worth, maybe thats why
Hi, there is still a supply issue with Simplera. I had a training course this week to use G4 sensors instead until it is resolved, mentioned timescale was 6+ weeks. We were told there was a quality control issue (which makes sense as my sensors rarely lasted the stated 7 days) when they moved from hand-made to automated manufacturing. They are addressing this, which has caused the shortages. Glad to have an interim solution, they work the same, just more fiddly to set up. Also told there is a new manufacturing facility being built in Ireland.Hello my fellow 780G users. I have been chasing Medtronic for the pump update and delivery of Simplera Sync sensors since January 2025. I keep asking RS Medtronic Advisors on a regular basis, considering it's been 6 month now. However, I am using G4 sensors and they are reliable for me, but I do think that any production issues or stock shortages for the Simplera Sync sensors must be resolved by now. I am wondering if self-funded users compared to NHS funded users are treated better.
Yes, to be honest, I'd rather they did spend the time getting the manufacturing right so the sensors are reliable. Being able to depend on them is key, it's so annoying when they fail within the first 24/48 hours.Thank you for the update. So there is some hope. I never had the chance to try the Simplera. Let's keep our fingers crossed
Unfortunately, I was recently advised by my hospital’s diabetes consultant that I’m low priority for the Simplera, even when it’s back on stream again.Hello my fellow 780G users. Totally agree with you that the sensors must be reliable. My G4's are very good. Many years ago I had a trial run with Medtronics Elite sensors. The results they gave me were so far off that I stopped that very fast. But that was back with the Minimed Paradigm I think. No such thing as hybrid closed loop back then. I am so happy with the 780G / G4 system. Wouldn't want to live without it anymore. The Simplera would just be less complicated to put on.....a luxury problem...I admitYes, to be honest, I'd rather they did spend the time getting the manufacturing right so the sensors are reliable. Don't get me wrong, G4's are great and I agree with Dancelot that these gadgets must be reliable. I don't think there is much of a difference in price is there?Unfortunately, I was recently advised by my hospital’s diabetes consultant that I’m low priority for the Simplera, even when it’s back on stream again.
This may partly be that the G4’s work well with me.
It seems that the NHS in my area will understandably continue to prioritise pregnant and young patients as there are additional costs with the new Simplera technology.
It’s still something to look forward to though.
