Hi, Im Gerry,

Been a type 2 diabetic since about 1995.

I was on diet control initially but the love of good food and having being cursed with a sweet tooth, got the better of me and was put on medication and diet. That did not help either and a bit down the track I was put on insulin. This was some time in the early 2000s.
I was on an insulin called Mixtard 30/70 for a few years until recently my treating practitioner referred me to an Endocrinologist. The best thing that has ever happened.

I now use a an insulin - Lantus Solastar which is a long acting (basal) insulin and I am getting a much better blood glucose readings.

I also take oral medication - Junavia, Diabex XR and cresto (for my cholesterol) and coveram (for the blood pressure)

I use an Accu-chek performa gluometer and I also have an app on my iPhone called the Diabetic Pilot that I have used for quite sometime to monitor and record my BG readings.

Well that's briefly about me and my type 2 diabetes and I'm always open to suggestions to better management.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone. Thanks,

Gerry
