soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I met someone on holiday in Spain last week who is a type 2 on 2 x 60 units glargine daily and 30 units rapid insulin for each meal. He wasn't happy on this and his numbers weren't good, ranging from 7 to 13 on 4 tests a day. Also he'd put on masses of weight.
I told him how I use mainly diet and exercise with some help from Metformin to keep numbers in the 4/5/6 range.
I asked what he was eating and I think we pretty much stopped at cereal and 2 pieces of toast for breakfast and potatoes with each main meal.
I told him he could probabaly get his numbers and doses and weight down with less carb intake. I gave him references to this forum and others and the Bernstein book ( Are you there Clive??)
He decided to try straight away and next day came and told me he'd had a 3 and a 5 in his numbers.
Obviously i don't want him to do anything that would make hin ill, but if this works for him, I'm pleased. I'll keep in touch and find out how he goes on.
Have any other forum members heard of people on mega doses of insulin? I've recently found out about U500, which is apparenly used for patients who have insulin antibodies.

Yes. I've several patients on massive doses. Not everyone wants to change but I've got one person losing weight despite being quite disabled and his insulin is now a third of the previous dose. I would say he is moderately low carbing now and his sugars are fine.
