Not an easy time you had in the last few years. Controlling diabetes is not simple but doable. Put some effort into controlling your levels as it will help you massively with getting under control your anxiety and depression. Im not sure if there is some scientific research but Im sure that these two are linked together. I can see my mood swings depending on the sugar levels and also experienced some anxiety issues when my sugar levels were all over the place

Hi Dale, Welcome!! I agree with @ewelina. I know its sounds easy for us to say but if you can get your diabetes under control it will have some effect on your depression and give you the physical health and strength that you need to deal with your PTSD. There are some great people on this forum, don't be worried about asking anything at all, there is usually someone who can help! Sue xxx.

Hi Dale I can also vouch for the effect of maintaining good stable glucose levels, I ended up at the docs when things got really bad, my blood glucose levels were bouncing around all over the place and I was really down about it, my doctor quite clearly explained that my erratic levels caused this.

I now eat a low carb diet, take less insulin and have much better control, you may not need to low carb but if you can carb count well and take the right insulin then your levels and moods will improve. Download 'carbs and cals' on your phone, get a good blood glucose monitor such as a Freestyle Insulinx - this will also tell you how much insulin to take with your meal and tell you how much you have in your system as it calculates this, also write or record your results, again you can download an app on your phone to do this like glucose wiz. Recording results will spot patterns so you can act on this.
