I heard a caller on the radio (yesterday) mention that he was a diabetes mentor.
I reckon I'd be pretty good at that and I'd like to give back.
When I was diagnosed at 18 (I'm now 43) I could have done with somebody to help me get used to the whole thing, from diet to emotions!

How does one go about becoming a diabetes mentor?

ps I live in Harlow, Essex. UK.

Quite a few hospitals now have 'buddies'.. Some of these are for people going on to pumps.. I had a 'mentor' met through this website when I went on to my pump. She really has seen me through thick and thin.. Not just with pump.. And we've never met.
Again, through this website I help a mum with her daughter on a pump.. Never met and het these two ladies in my life are both very special to me...
Still a form of mentoring... Long distance!!
