I am trying to lose some weight and have finally decided to take heed of the advice given and reduce my carbs more than what I currently have done in the past.

Could someone just check my menu over for today and see that I'm not doing anything to wrong? I think I might have tweaked it, but just wanted to be sure. :D Thanks

B'fast - Homemade muesli with 10g oats, 2 tbsp mixed nuts, 1tbsp pumpkin seeds, 1tbsp sunflower seeds mixed with some natural yogurt.

Snack - celery stick with laughing cow light cheese spread

Lunch - Chicken and Cheddar Cheese salad with 1 tbsp of tesco finest coleslaw(lowest carbs I could find 5g per 100g), an apple

Snack - 10 almonds

Dinner - Piece of cod roasted with lots of vegetables

Snack - Babybel and an oatcake

Exercise - 45 mins gym work and 30 mins swimming

Looks pretty good there Fiona. Your meter will be the final arbiter!

ps, why 'light' cheese? Full fat is usually better tasting and has less impact on blood sugar.

Looks pretty good
Howmany carbs per day are you aiming for?

Hi Hana

I am aiming for between 100-120g to start with and see how the weight loss and blood sugars go, although I don't think I could go very much lower as I still love the occasional slice of bread/the odd potato etc and aiming for this limit will mean that I could have one of those items a day if I wanted but not at all my meals!I know it is not as low as most people on here but I'm thinking baby steps!!

Hi Fergus

I've been on a low fat diet most of my life and having to eat fat as such is kinda of off putting in my mouth and my brain at the moment!! Its like I look at something and think I can't have that, its far too fattening and then I taste the item and its too fatty or creamy - does that make sense?
However the cheese salad went down a treat at lunchtime!!

Thanks for checking that its not too out of place!!
PS Blood sugars have improved themselves, I actually saw 6.2 after my lunch so I am really please :D

Good going Fiona! Just remember, fat isn't fattening, never has been.

All the best,

fergus

Looks good Fiona, like Fergus I'd go for full fat yogurt and cream cheese. It does seem weird eating full fat after years of cutting it, but it really does help satiety! Looks like a great menu though Fiona. Good luck!
