work harder eating chocolate and cakes? :(

im sorry, this is not good, i could scream at the them sometimes, you have to accept your on your own until you find a dn or doc with a brain and do whatever you can for yourself, and that definatly isnt eating chocolate and cakes (just my opinion)

its still early days, keep going, im sure you will see the improvements you want to, your doing great

Agreed 100%! although there is much debate regarding low GI/GL vs Low carb diets (My preferred choice) I firmly believe that chocolate and cakes have to go big time as they're not good for anyone, especially diabetics

It's hard at first but you'll get there!;)

What on earth does your DN mean when she says try harder yet suggests you have chocolate cake etc. As another poster says, you need a DN with a brain. Going onto Metformin is what most of us do and it can help with insulin resistance and reduces blood sugar just a bit. It's a good safe drug so no problem there (ask for the SR version if you have bowel problems with it). Meanwhile do reduce the carbs. If you're having cake go for low-added sugar fruit cake NOT chocolate cake. Get a glucose meter if you haven't got one and see what food affects you and by how much. Ask to see the GP in future if the DN hasn't had a brain retrofit in the meantime :)

i have since 21st nov when i was diagnosed , stopped eating any sugar and went to low carb but only threw the advice on here. i have lost weight and my bloods have dropped to normel . all my urine tests come back as no protien or sugar in it . i just feel so diaspointed with the help . i month into it and i have adjusted 100pc and even bought a tredmill i pound every day for a hour . i wont kno if doc has put me on tabs until monday now, ohhh i think i be changing to a doctors who cares in the new year and i plan to join slimming world and show that nurse i dont eat cakes and choc all day long .. thankyou all xx
