Hi , I was diagnosed with type 2 in June last year and started on Metaformin, 1 tablet per day, and then after a week moving to 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening , I've just put in a prescription request and noticed that it said two twice a day , so have I got this wrong from the beginning as I am sure it was one twice a day? The amount in each box was lasting the required amount of time, but I did notice that I had started to accumulate more tablets when I thought it was time for a prescription request, so I'm thinking the dose changed and I wasn't told? Either way I managed to get my hba1c from 82 to 50 and now on 6 month blood tests as I'm close to remission? Should I worry about not taking the extra dosage ?

Hello, @NicholaJane and welcome.

First of all, well done at reducing your HbA1c. 50 would make it still in diabetes range, but close to the 48 cut off for being in pre-diabetes range. Still a way to go before reaching non-diabetes levels, of below 42 HbA1c, though some doctors and researchers call the prediabeties level ‘remission’.
This article explains it better than I do

As for your Metformin dose, it is often prescribed as an incremental, gradully increasing dose. However, we are not able to advise on medication. You should discuss the dosage with GP, or nurse. Though the ultimate decision on taking medication or not lies with the individual for whom it has been prescribed .
