Hi guys (and gals).

Although I have never been low-fat oriented, I upped my intake of fats along with my low-carb regime about 4 or 5 days ago.

Last night I suddenly developed a rather unpleasant metallic taste in my mouth.

Has anyone else experienced that at all?

It may be totally unrelated, or perhaps a detox symptom, but thought I'd ask just in case anyone else has come across it before.

Ali.

Hi Sue.

No, no other meds - I was able to drop the BP tablets not long after going gluten-free. I suppose it is possible it could be the Metformin, but I have been on it for at least 8 years or more and have never experienced that before.

Geeeze sugarless sue that link is scary, I made the mistake of looking at it, I have picked up all those illnesses now, I am a wreck, hmmmm I am the worlds worst hypochondriac.

I was wondering Ali did you eat pine nuts? The leave some people with a metallic taste in the mouth?

It could also be that you are not drinking enough to flush out toxins, make sure you eat loads of veetables and some fruit and finally I have heard some people on the Atkins diet complain of bad breath, esp when they first start with the diet but it improved after a week or so.

All the best

Karen

Thanks Karen.

I actually drank a bit more than usual yesterday and half wondered if it was that, but I normally don't drink much more than a litre and a half or so a day so I am sure the extra half litre or so couldn't have been the problem, but who knows, I will just keep an eye on it and see what happens.

It might even mean a trip to the dentist.

Occasionally, but not for a while now, and certainly not yesterday. It's still there a bit tonight. I will just see what happens over the next few days - it might be a detox thing.

Hi Ali,
the only time i had a metalic taste in my mouth, was in the early stages of pregnancy, could this be a possibility? Just a thought.

Hi Suzi. No, that's one thing it definitely ain't!

Interestingly, I 'eliminated' for England (or Wales!) last night, am three pounds lighter this morning and the taste is much improved, so maybe I was right about the detox thing!
