Ive asked several times but had no explanations other than don’t double test!

I have more than once had readings from the SAME meter from the same blood drop that are more than 15% apart. Clean finger Minute or less apart. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is one reading up to 15% high and one 15% low. To me that’s worse than two meters being consistent within themselves but not each other. At least then trends and changes are still relevant so long as you stick to one meter.
The advice as I understand it is to discard the initial drop then test the next one. I think this is because the blood closest to the puncture site is stale, the follow on is fresher, and meters are sensitive to haematocrit value which is a measure of oxygen in the blood. So blood flow in the capilliaries slows down as it gets closer to the surface of the skin - bit like water slows down at the river bank due to friction and thinner vessels. Note this is my POV and totally unscientific, It is observational based on a sample of n=1
