when I went to my last diabetic clinic the nurse said do I check my blood sugars at home i said no as i don't have a machine but have ordered one off Amazon she said you didn't have to do that we could have give you one from here but after the clinic she sent me to the DR with the results and I told him i have bought my own and he turn round and said I don't need one but I dike to keep a check as it is so very hard to get an appointment I also keep a check of blood pressure did I do right then when I go see my original GP I normally see its all written down for him

Wow! That was a long sentence and tough to read in one breath (only joking with you).

Too much information is rarely a bad thing and having a meter is not one of those rare occasions. It's very important to know how your blood sugar is affected throughout the day and how certain types of foods affect your blood sugar levels.

You may try to see if you can still get your hands on the free meter. The test strips can get pretty expensive after a while depending on how frequently you test.

i not sure if you take insulin . or as they say type 2 if you are on diet surly it is better for you to know how you are doing
i have 2 friend s who are not on insulin or tablets he like to to know how food at different time affect his bloods
one spends a lot of money on a 24 7 moninter which last 14 days he SAYS HE REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHEN DRIVING and why not if he feels it helping him live better with diabetes what is wrong with docs and nurses if he is willing to pay why not
keeping well keep him away from hospitals and keeps cost down for them in the long run
