Rude people, too much swearing especially on public transport and queueing. I live in a small market town, Morley, Leeds and the litter there is unbelievable, so much so, Ive been out myself litter picking on an evening, simply because I hate living in such an untidy town !!
I have read something about a meter which can notify you of the correct amount of carbs you should be eating for each meal. I have been very lax regarding my food and eating, and my tests are all over the place. I recently went to see my Consultant a the hospital and he seemed to think that I was doing ok - even after looking at my testing diary !! It would be handy to get hold of one of these meters, Im not sure where to get one but perhaps someone will tell me. I do eat lots of carbs but did not realise the full extent of eating them and what it did to my tests.

Surely it calculates the insulin dose for the amount of carbs you are going to eat rather than the other way round.
I assume (so may be wrong) that it works like the calculator on an insulin pump so is only effective if you put in the amount of carbs correctly and have worked out your insulin/carb ratio properly.

As Phoenix says the meter you are referring to are bolus advisor's and will tell you how much insulin to take when you input the carbs into the bg meter. I use the following one which is the Aviva Expert, it takes a while to set up and you might need the help of your DSN but it's a really good meter:

I also have a bolus calculator app on my phone, but you need to set it up with your ratios and correction dose info first

The aviva expert is very similar to the meter I use linked to my pump and I really like it. My nurse gave me an expert too to have as my spare meter but I haven't had to use it, she did say they were quite pricey and I think you need to get one from your nurse who can also help with getting it set up.
