Hi all,

I've been reading up on metformin and I've noticed it can be used to treat female infertility... does this mean it may render my Pill useless?? V ery confused! :eh:

I have no idea but I suspect if you put one between your knees and push them together very hard it will make a great contraceptive.

sorry couldn't resist

No - your pill will still protect you from getting pregnant - for me this was something I had to deal with in my head (I have PCOS)- after trying from the age of 26 until 38 to have a baby of our own without luck (pregnancies but no babies) I now at the age of almost 50 have to use some form of conraception to avoid pregnancy now I take metformin - I found this harder to deal with than my diagnosis for a while.

We did adopt and have a lovely son so it worked out wonderfully in the end - but it still was "alien" to me to have to try and stop getting pregnant after all those years of doing the exact opposite
