Hi there. I've been on metformin for just three weeks and haven't any of the gastro side effects, but I'm absolutely exhausted most of the time. Could this be the metformin? Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so does the tiredness eventually go away as your body adapts? Thanks.

I'm not sure about the metformin, it's not a side effect I've heard of (which doesn't mean it's not that of course!)

Do you test your blood glucose? High numbers are a very common cause of fatigue so you might rule that one out.

Thanks for the response. I do test regularly and my numbers have come way down, so maybe my body is just adapting after being high for months.

I find it's carbohydrates that make me tired, we can't efficiently use the glucose they produce when digested. Instead of that energy feeding us it just hangs around in our blood.
