Metformin and food?

I think most of us take our Metformin tabs just prior to eating. What I'm wondering is if anybody knows if the effectiveness of the tabs can be affected by what you eat?

You should actually take Metformin with your meal, not before or after. This helps to avoid certain unpleasant side effects that many people get. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question though.

Not sure, but I do think the tabs have to work harder with some foods than others, my only evidence for this theory is the next days toilet activity

I find if I take mine just before eating I have no stomach issues at all. When I first started them I took them during / after meal and felt sickly and windy. So I guess again we are all different.
