I have been on 3 x 500mg metformin a day now for almost 2 months. After a rough start the side effects seem to have eased now, but my readings are still quite high - between 8.5 and 10.5. My next gp appointment is end of January but should I bring this forward due to these readings? Before metformin my readings were in the range 16 to 21.

When were you diagnosed; 2months ago? The readings you mention are not that bad, especially if recently diagnosed. My initial reading was 26! Within a couple of wks of insulin treatment (I'm Type 1) I was down to your levels. I now vary between the 2's and 10's (still in honeymoon period). I've had some quite high readings but experimenting with food to see what I respond to.
