A few months ago I had a second bout of kidney stones. Had stent put in and eventually discharged by urologist with a letter for gp that stated that I should now not be on metformin.
I was then put on linaglyptin and shortly.after that found that all the bowel and got discomfort disappeared .
It seems that gp's are not aware of the problems with metformin and kidney problems, also I'm advised not to take cholesterol lowering drugs as they can cause more kidney and liver problems.
You can't win
