Metformin - can't swallow after 10 yrs

Diagnosed 12 years ago T2. Was on Metformin 500mg, then insulin 5 years ago and 1000mg. Last 2 years, cannot swallow the metformin. Seems like a lead weight, often feels stuck at the back of my throat. Others laugh as I retch trying to get the blasted thing down. Insulin is a doddle now compared to Metformin, but don't have any issues swallowing Glicizide or Statins. Just joined today and spotted others struggling, so it's not just me. HELP!

Is the oral form available on the NHS?
