metformin crushing them

hi type 2 , have been on metformin powder mix with water and drink it , was discontinued last yeatr just coming to end of my stash. got to try crushing metformin pills,have tried with my pill crusher that crushes my blood pressure pill with ease, it nearly broke it. any one used a pestle and mortar how study are they,at present having to give a tap with a hammer to split pill up, can not swallow pills, any other solutions not allowed on liquid too expensive tried other smaller pill gave me weight gain

I don't know about crushing metaformin.. Best ask your Dr if it's safe to do this... But the wife uses her pestle and mortar all the time .. She has two sets .. One for any tablets the hounds may need and one for crushing spices for cooking .. They are very easy to use and seem to make easy work of crushing anything.

Edited to add .. The wife said it should be no problem crushing the tablets in the pestle and mortar .. But .. Ask your Dr first !!!!!!

Hi , is it worth having a chat with a pharmacist ...
It is true some people just can't swallow tablets ...shame the liquid version was stopped ...
I wonder if they would mske you a special case for your health needs ....worth asking ....hope you can sort something out ...best wishes kat

Not sure , but not all medication works when crushed ....

Check with pharmacist. I'd think the ordinary version might be ok crushed but not the slow release one.
