I take the slow release one, was told to take it after food. Might be different if yours is not SR.

The leaflets that come with drug boxes are usually available on the internet if you google the name of the drug.

It states on the label of my Metformin XR box:

Swallow whole ONE tablet TWICE daily with food as directed by your doctor.
