Hello. I’m seeking advice through my journey. I’ve recently been told I have pre Diabetes. I also have a genetic disorder called CMT.

It effects my nerves, bones and joints. To avoid having to take pain meds, I’ve learned to take it easy. I’m also trying to not smoke 2 packs a day.

As for my question. I am on day 2 of 500mg of Metformin.
Thing is I hear it takes 4 to 5 days to work.

What does it mean when it seems to be working right away.

I’m still taking it all in. And not sure which type I’m at risk for. I believe we suspect I’m insulin resistant.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I’m 38, and I’ve been smoking since 18. It’s been hard. So I’m trying Chantex. You’re supposed to smoke the first week on it. I’m day 2.

I hope my fast response to it is a sign I can reverse my possible insulin resistance.

Pre-diabetes would mean you haven't crossed the line yet, so you could still stay ahead of T2. Do yourself a favor and don't let it depend solely on metformin. Just reduce your carb-intake a little. See what that gets you. Good luck!

Isn’t it odd that it works right away?

I get pretty high when I’m bad, coffee and creamer. Takes 3 to 4 hours to come back down.

I’m pretty clueless here. Thank you guys for the words.

Bloodsugar is something that changes every minute of every day, depending on food, activity, health, weather, meds... If it was a thyroidhormone-issue it'd take 6-8 weeks; it's a slow process. But anything insulin-related can go pretty quick. If it increases your sensitivity to insulin and/or tackles your liver's processing of sugars, the result can be pretty quick. Far as I know anyway...

So the immediate reaction on day one points to insulin resistance, and or live malfunction?

My morning fast range from 112 to 125.

2 hrs after coffee is around 200 to 245. Then nears my normal around 3 and 4 hours latter.

My base of 112 to 120 through out the day, with very small friendly snacks don’t move much.

I’m trying to break my late dinner habit. Tonite it jumped to 184 after 1 hr.
